Mission Statement

The Richards Memorial Library serves as an educational and recreational community resource. We strive to enrich lives, build community, and grow knowledge by bringing people, information and ideas together.

The Richards Memorial library in Paxton adheres to the Library Bill of Rights in the choosing of materials and its availability to all regardless of age, gender, or nationality. The Library strives to serve the needs of patrons with diverse ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

Adult Volunteers

Aimee - Our gardener extraordinaire who beautifies our planters and gardens.

Larry the Librarian, MSLS - Our go-to volunteer for shifting and shelf reading. Larryr brings decades of experience as a Reference Librarian at Assumption College. Board Member of the Friends of Richards Memorial Library.

Jean, MSLS -  Our dedicated book sale organizer who keeps things going in the basement. Board Member of the Friends of Richards Memorial Library. Jean is also a retired library director.

Youth Volunteers

Each year, students seeking volunteer hours sign up with the Youth Services Librarian to help with LEGOs, crafts, organizing, and many other programs for the youth of Paxton.

Any interested teen is invited to please stop and by and speak with the Youth Services Librarian.
